December 2007 Technical Bulletin

Systemline MusicServer - iTunes™ Imported Files

As a result of feedback from the field we have been alerted to an issue that may arise with some imported iTunes™ media files. The problem exhibits itself with an affected file freezing the MusicServer midway through the track's playback. It is advised that only MP3 format (non DRM protected) files which have been saved within the iTunes library are transferred to the hard disk of the Server.

Nevo Studio - MS Vista

We are receiving an increasing number of enquiries regarding the compatibility of NevoStudio and laptops / PCs running Microsoft's Vista operating system. We can confirm that there is a version (V2.0.2.597) available to download from the www.mynevo.com website. You will however also need to download the new Windows Mobile Device Centre which is available through the Microsoft website. This program replaces Microsoft's ActiveSync when using Vista.

Modular Advanced / Systemline S6 - Firmware Update

The Armour Home technical team has established the following procedure to ensure a stable connection of Systemline advanced products. This procedure should be used in every installation at the time of first connecting the hub and keypads together with the programming computer. Should any communication issues occur, either during programming, or after installation, please use the procedure as the first step in the fault finding process.

  • Disconnect all keypads from the hub.
  • Power up hub and connect USB PC-hub.
  • Start up SystemNetApp version 5.12.
  • Upgrade hub firmware to version 5.12.
  • Connect all keypads.
  • Upgrade the firmware version for each keypad to 5.12 (if required).
  • Upload keypad configurations.

System Net Configuration software version 5.12 is available to download from:

http://www.armourhe.co.uk/downloads/software/SystemNet_Files

This release offers the following new features:

  • Full two way RS232 integration with Lutron Homeworks
  • Support for both colour and monochrome touch screens
  • Support for both 2 port, 6 port hub and S6
  • IR macro's for colour touch screens (not monochrome)
  • Modular address updating to speakers or ZAM from touch screens

All other features of 4.6 remain. Please make sure colour TouchScreens are NEVER specified with 2 port hubs. Monochrome TouchScreens can be used with either 2 or 6 port hubs. All colour screens, 6 port hubs and S6 controllers should have 5.12 pre-loaded. If not, you should upload the new firmware included in the download to use the above features.

Modular Advanced / Systemline S6 - Colour TSK Non IR controlled installs

If a system is installed that is to be exclusively controlled by RS232 and have no IR control then an IR file (.qrc) will still need to be loaded on the keypad configuration screen; 'UPLOAD' will need to be selected when programming keypads not 'UPLOAD WITHOUT IR'. This will only need to be done once per keypad; any subsequent changes will not require the IR file.

If the following symptoms are found.

  • Pressing the "HOME" key displays a choice of sources but selecting a source has no effect.
  • Turning the keypad ON using the hard button (Top left) will select source one and source control screen is displayed.

Then the above IR file loading process should be followed.

The above applies to all current Colour Touchscreens with S/W version 5.12. (Serial number KPC-07110497 and below)

MediaDeck Elite Series software updates

In the event that your installed Elite Series MediaDeck requires a software update/enhancement you must have the at least revision V1.5x. If you have a previous revision V1.4x or earlier you will require a system restore disc Rev A11 which needs to be installed prior to any further updates. The Rev. A11 restore DVD is available from the technical department on request.
