Description

We take you step by step in using AutoCAD (computer aided design) for your business. The course focuses on the custom installation business and gives you all the commands in the program you will use. You will draw a plan from scratch as well as take an architects multi layered plan and use it for your own wiring schematic, removing all other unwanted information.

Requirements

Familiarity of PCs and windows is essential but no other specific knowledge is required, however an understanding of Custom Installation would be beneficial.

Day 1

10:00-11.30
  • Introduction to Armour Group Home Electronics Division, Agenda
  • Installing CAD: Your machine will have the software installed and configured to use our network.
  • Introduction to CAD: The concept, what we use it for.
  • Simple commands: Drawing lines, Arc’s & Circles
  • Selection Sets: How to select exact drawn elements
11:30-11:45 COFFEE BREAK: Tea, coffee and biscuits served in the break out room
11:45-13.00
  • Distance & Direction: Size Matters..??
  • Layers: How AutoCAD’s layering system should work.
13:00-14:00 LUNCH
14:00-15:30 Draw the Floor plan: Produce a floor plan, add rooms, doors & windows. Explore essential AutoCAD Editing commands.
15:30-15:45 COFFEE BREAK
15:45-17:30
  • Floor Plan contd. Continue to develop our drawing.
  • Lastly: Question time

Day 2

10:00-11:30
  • 1: Complete Floor plan: Add dimensions, hatching add symbols and insert the Title Block.
  • 2: Plot the Drawing
11:30-11:45 COFFEE BREAK: Tea, coffee and biscuits served in the break out room
11:45-13.00 3: Architects Planning/Small Power Drawing: Open the Architects plan and strip out irrelevant information and make is suitable for our wiring multimedia infrastructure design.
13:00-14:00 LUNCH
14:00-15:30
  • 5: Multimedia Infrastructure: Planning & setting out of multimedia infrastructure elements.
  • 6: Add our Layout : Create new symbols and use our pre-defined symbols to add a layout.
15:30-15:45 COFFEE BREAK
15:45-16:00
  • 7: Finish Plan: Complete the design. Add our title bock & plot.
  • 8: Questions & answers.
